All Packed

The plans include a farewell dinner at our favorite Indian restaurant with my dad and his wife, two hotels booked via Priceline (yeah, me!), sleeping bags in the new digs, and the all important day for new Internet service, oh, and the arrival of our furniture and boxes. I can live without a bed, but being blog-less is not going to be much fun. I will miss reading about everyone's lives. Yep, I really will.

Guest Blogger

It is 10:33 AM. I am doing what I do best, procrastinating. I did manage to weed and trim the garden, read a few blogs, and down a yummy plate of scrambled eggs and soy sausages. Packing will commence shortly...hopefully.

BG sent me an email this morning:

Happy Birthday to Grace Ingalls! 132 years old!!! May 23, 1877!

Happy Birthday to you, Grace Ingalls! I like to think and say, "Happy birthday," to Laura, Mary, Carrie, Grace, Pa, Ma, and Michael Landon, and other people who are already dead.

I almost forget about Rose (BG's great grandmother), because it was Friday May 15, 2009. I told my teacher in Civics and I was thinking about Rose, and I told him that it was her bday today and she is 108 years old now, but she died on May 12, 1999. Just three days before her 98th bday. Wow that longggggggg time!!!!!! Most people in our family die at age 90-100. Some are 60-89. Did anyone die before 60? Yes, my grandmother, Jeanne, died at age 54, in 1968. Someday I would like go to Poland and find Rose's family. But I think they are dead now.

BG's blog, Prairiegirl, is filled with more about Little House on the Prairie. Be sure to visit!

More of the Same

The moving truck will be here in one week.
I would estimate 1/4 of our stuff is ready.

The paper cutter was packed, as was the laminating film.
Crooked labels are fine.

Tampons in the kitchen?

Proof that I have made a bit of progress.

I like buying containers.
Maybe I should go shopping.

The cutest baby on the Internet
Because looking at newspaper, bubble wrap, and tape is boring.

Bad Blogging Mom

BG alerted me to the fact that I have been a bad blogger.

PACKING

PACKING

That is what I am doing while SH is at work, and BG is at school.

I bought myself some yummy semi-junk food to keep up my strength.
Salt, fat, and sugar don't count when one is packing.

This was breakfast

Half the can was a snack

and
and
and

await in the pantry.

Beer would be a great.
If anyone wants to buy me a six-pack, I will trade

There are two identical loveseats that will be heading to Goodwill.

Oops, I must have flipped the cushion.
The plaid doesn't match that way.

I will even throw in the Christmas wrapping paper that I stuck under there.
I gave my mother tons of extra wrapping paper.
I have issues with buying too much paper.
All of PG's gifts must be wrapped in Disney paper.
Our gifts all get gold paper.
Why then do I keep buying colorful paper?

Daisy, Daisy

BG made them herself!
Pillow and ball for grandma's dog

Big kisses for a little dog.

Give me your answer, do

I'm half crazy

All for the love of you

My foray into the likes of a piano playing fool, were short-lived. I did, however, learn to play Bicycle built for Two. Thirty odd years later, I find myself another kind of fool, as they pictures prove, puppies don't sit still for photos.

Silly Saturday

Why?

Because my family is weird.

Tempt My Tummy Tuesday - Blintz Souffle

Visit Tempt My Tummy Tuesday for more yummy recipes!

Grandma Rose, my paternal grandmother, was the queen of cheese blintz making. During my childhood, our freezer was always stocked with her delicious blintzes. The crepes were thin, and the filling creamy. Only once during my childhood, did my mom and I attempt to recreate the recipe. While our blintzes were tasty, Rosy Posy's, as we affectionately called grandma, were definitely better.

Frozen blintzes are a fine substitute for homemade. While we normally ate our cheese blintzes with sour cream, grape jelly, and a bowl of cold beet borscht, (jarred variety with more sour cream) when we had company visiting for brunch, my mom would make blintz souffle.

Blintz Souffle

12 frozen cheese blintzes
4 eggs
1 1/4 c. sour cream
1/4 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tbsp. orange juice

Place the blintzes in a buttered 9 x 13 inch pan.
Blend the other ingredients well and pour over the blintzes.
Cover and refrigerate overnight.
Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.
Serve warm.

No big hair for me, just freakishly large shoulder pads,
gigantic eyeglass frames, black and red plastic earrings (ew!).

You better post your purchases.

Here you go:

My first fun find this past week was a $6.00 brand new Target Home charging station, found at Goodwill. I will wait on painting it, since I am not sure where it will find its final resting spot. For now, it is on the floor in our bedroom, which is great, since pretty much all of my much needed exercise involves bending and unplugging chargers.

Saturday, my friend, Doris, and I attended a garage sale at BG's school. Doris snagged Tupperware, cute tins, and a giant bottle of Watkins cooking spray. I should add that there were vendors with new wares, as well as the usual used goodies, lest you picture someone buying a used bottle of cooking spay.

With no idea where I will use these two tiny chairs, I paid $5.00 for the pair. My first inclination was some sort of back of the toilet decoration. Doris pointed out that the chairs are too big for this purpose. I checked, and while a chair does fit on the toilet tank, it is a bit overpowering. I am sure I will figure out something one day. Until then, I might spray paint them before they get packed.

Speaking of packing, the three moving company representatives that have given estimates, all had such different sales styles, that it made me wonder how many other people enjoy chatty salesman.

One man stayed for ninety minutes, another an hour, and a third was only here for twenty minutes. Half of his time was spent silently calculating a price. One sales rep was armed with a portable printer, for an on the spot price, while another emailed me the next day with his final quote.

It is rather interesting how the man today said three words, while I somehow found myself in lengthy non-moving related conversations with the other two. Two more potential talkers are heading my way tomorrow and Wednesday.

I knew it!

Compared to others, we have less STUFF! This has now been confirmed by two moving company salesmen. Just how lightly do we live? We are two thousand pounds under what most houses of this size hold.

I now have formal justification to attend a giant garage sale tomorrow!!!!
